Given that Black and White was published by EA and released during The Great DRM Travesty of the 2000s, I had a hunch it had some sort of DRM on it. I spent 1-2 hours with the same issue and finally figured out what the problem was: for security reasons, Windows 10 does not allow DRM protected games from modifying system files (see this article for more information). When I start the game on Windows 10 the screen get's black for a few seconds and just stops. My absolut favoritegame of all times is the Strategy/Adventure game Black & White, where you play as a god and build villages to impress other villages to join you, or totaly destroys the other villages with fireball miracles works too, if you're evil.Īnyway, I always had problems with getting this game to work on other operating systems than Windows XP, I actually got it to work on Windows 7, by editing the resulotion manually to 1920x1080 somewhere in the systemfiles or something, and by playing as administrator you could make the save feature possible.
